Our Japan Visit
As a small independent studio, everything we create begins long before it reaches our workshop — with the extraordinary artisans and paper makers we are proud to work alongside in Japan.
Earlier this year, we returned to Japan to spend time with many of the makers who have become an important part of the Esmie story. Visiting workshops in Kyoto and Osaka, we reviewed new designs, placed future orders and continued building relationships that have grown over many years.
These visits are always incredibly special, but this journey felt particularly inspiring. We began developing new collections, explored traditional techniques and discovered remarkable new makers whose work we’ll be delighted to share with you over the coming months.
Every sheet of paper, every pattern and every handcrafted piece carries the story of the hands that created it. It is a privilege to work alongside these talented artisans and to bring their craftsmanship into our collections.
LOOKING AHEAD
Our latest journey has inspired an exciting new chapter for Esmie.
Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing beautiful new collections, including handcrafted textiles, artisan ceramics, traditional Japanese bells and thoughtfully made gifts, each carefully chosen for their exceptional craftsmanship and timeless appeal.
We look forward to sharing these remarkable makers and their stories with you as each new collection arrives.
BACK IN THE STUDIO
From our workshop in West Sussex, every Esmie piece is carefully handmade, wrapped and prepared for its journey to you.
Thank you, as always, for supporting our small family business and allowing us to continue working alongside these remarkable makers. Your support helps preserve traditional craftsmanship and enables us to keep sharing the beauty of Japan through every collection we create.
